Revision is a linguistic checking process where an independent second linguist (native reviser) compares the translated text to the source-language text in terms of completeness, content match, special terminology, proper language use and stylistics.

Our translation agency offers the following types of revision either as part of the translation service or as an independent service

Specialised language revision

During specialized language revision the translated documents of a special sector are revised by a qualified reviser who has comprehensive knowledge in the given area and is an expert of the given target language. During the revision process, the reviser focuses on exact and consistent usage of the special terminology and on readability of the target text.

Full revision

Full revision means a comprehensive comparison of the translated text to the original text covering every aspect: content, special terminology, grammar, proper language use and style.

Four-eyes principle revision

Four-eyes principle revision means that every translation must be read at least by two people, usually the translator and the reviser. We suggest that four-eyes principle revision be ordered for checking official, ready-to-print materials (e.g., company documents, brochures, catalogues). The specialised reviser compares the target language text to the source language sentence by sentence and checks that the translated document is correct for content, proper language use and style. The target text should clearly transmit the message to the target audience.

Official and attested translations are only available with a four-eye principle revision since this is the way we can ensure the full compliance of the translated content with the original document.

Target language review

The native speaking linguist revises the target language text without comparing it to the source language text. The target text is checked for terminology, style and readability to ensure it is clearly understandable for the target audience.

Proofreading

Proofreading is a reviewing process where the final draft of a document is once again checked to ensure consistency and accuracy in spelling, grammar, punctuation and formatting. Proofreaders also correct the stylistic blunders. We suggest this service in case of printed materials such as user manuals, instruction manuals, brochures, reports. During the formal revision, the reviser shall check whether images, symbols, graphics and the related texts from the source language material appear properly in the given target language text.

Proofreading services may be applied for checking and correcting monolingual documents written in Hungarian or in another language.
